Food and Farmworker Relief Fund
This year Mano en Manos Access to Essential Services team has worked statewide to support food and farmworkers apply for emergency aid through the Food and Farmworker Relief Fund
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm and Food Worker Relief (FFWR) Grant Program awarded approximately $670 million to organizations across the country to issue one-time $600 relief payments to eligible farm and food workers. Mano en Mano is partnering with the Hispanic Federation and PASA Sustainable Agriculture to support food and farmworkers in Maine apply for support.
The purpose of the fund is to defray worker expenses incurred preparing for, preventing exposure to, and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. Workers employed in an eligible front-line job during the COVID-19 state of emergency (from January 20, 2020 -March 11, 2023) may be eligible to receive a one-time $600 relief payment.
As of October 24, 2023 our team has supported more than 1,500 people to fill out applications- resulting in more than $716,400 distributed directly to food and farmworkers working over the pandemic. This support is crucial to the essential workers that kept families and communities fed over the pandemic.
