La Posada 2022

For the first time since 2019, community members in the Milbridge area were able to come together in-person, and celebrate La Posada.

The piñata at this years Posada celebration!

La Posada is a tradition celebrated throughout Latin America that connects to the New Testament story of Mary and Joseph's walk through Bethlehem in search of a vacant room. A “posada” means "hospitality," or a space to stay. The tradition is to invite family, friends, and neighbors into someone’s home to share a meal and a hot drink, away from the cold.  It also represents communities coming together to support one another, and the importance of generosity and togetherness.

Every December, Mano en Mano staff, community members and volunteers come together to create a space to connect, celebrate, share food, listen and dance to music, and pass on cultural traditions to the next generation.

This past year was the 17th annual celebration of La Posada, and the celebration included: songs, arts-and-crafts, dancing, games, raffles, and delicious food!
