Blueberry Harvest School 2023
As the summer starts, Mano en Mano is excited to welcome new and familiar faces as our community grows over the 2023 blueberry harvest!
Mano en Mano will operate the Blueberry Harvest School this summer 2023. The program will run from Monday, July 31st to Friday, August 18th.
This years theme is Traditions. Students will explore topics of culture, language, and identity through consideration of the questions: What is tradition? What are ways we celebrate traditions within our families, schools, and communities? How do we create new traditions in our lives? We will remember and honor traditions that uplift our families and communities, consider how we can break or transform traditions that do not serve us well, and create new traditions for the futures we imagine for ourselves and in our world.

In addition to school based programming for children 3-15, we will also provide educational and enrichment services to students and families through our Camp Services work that organizes direct outreach and support to migrant families throughout the Downeast. This includes organizing English tutoring, distributing summer learning kits, and connecting with students and families so that they have access to the specific supports they need while in the area.

Our Access to Essential Services team will also be doing outreach to seasonal community members over the summer, and organizing Welcome and Resource Centers. These centers are designed to welcome folks to the area, make connections to partner organizations in the areas of health, education, legal aid, and other social services, and provide access to essential resources. Our Mercadito, Mano en Manos culturally nourishing food pantry, will play a key role this summer, and will provide fresh produce, meat and non-perishable items throughout the season.
