Celebrating 2024 Graduates
As the 2024 school year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to celebrate two members of the Mano en Mano community and Migrant Education Program who have graduated this spring.
Shealynn Stevens graduated this spring with honors from Calais High School. An athlete and National Technical Honors Society member, she will be attending Washington County Community College in the fall to work towards a Certificate in Early Childhood Education.
Reflecting back on your time in high school, what is the accomplishment you are most proud of?
I am proud of being inducted in the Nation Technical Honors Society, Making it to the State Championship with my High School Varsity volleyball team and also graduating with honors!
What are your plans for next year?
I will be attending Washington County Community College in the fall to work towards my Early Childhood Education Certificate.
How did Mano en Mano and/or the Migrant Education Program (MEP) help you succeed?
Mano en Mano helped me succeed by providing resources when I needed them and by supporting me continuously.
What are you most looking forward to after high school/college?
I am looking forward to attending college in the Fall and also starting my career in either our local school or childcare.
Is there anyone you would like to add?
Thank you to everyone who has supported me all 4 years of High School. My teachers, friends, coaches and parents.
Luis Mendoza graduated this spring from Washington Academy. He is excited to attend Cosmetology School in the coming year, and intends to open his own business in the self-care industry!
Reflecting back on your time in high school, what is the accomplishment you are most proud of
Staying focused and working hard in general.
What is your favorite memory of Mano en Mano?
My favorite memory are the Blueberry Harvest activities.
What are you most looking forward to after high school/college?
To attend Cosmetology School to get certified and eventually owning a business in the self-care industry.
Is there anyone you would like to add?
I am excited for new adventures!
