At Mano en Mano, our mission is to work alongside our community to support and uplift immigrants and farmworkers in Maine. We stand firmly in the belief that all people, regardless of where they come from, what they have lived through, or their immigration status, deserve dignity, respect, and access to the essential resources they need to thrive. We envision a stronger and more inclusive Maine where all people are welcomed, and where everyone has access to education, housing, and healthcare.
The new immigration policies that are currently being proposed at the federal level seek to divide, dehumanize, and marginalize the very communities we work alongside. These policies threaten the well-being of our families, neighbors and friends, particularly farmworkers, who are integral to the vibrancy and fabric of our communities and local economy. They also disproportionately impact communities of color, compounding the systemic inequalities that we strive to dismantle every day.
We reject any policies that seek to strip immigrants of their rights, their safety, or their ability to live and work without fear. These policies directly undermine the values of justice, equity, and inclusion that we believe in at Mano en Mano and are basic to the human rights of all of us . We believe that a stronger,Maine is one that welcomes and supports immigrants and people of color, and that their contributions are vital to the well-being and prosperity of our state.
We stand in solidarity with immigrant and migrant farmworker communities and will continue to advocate for policies that ensure access to housing, healthcare, education, and fair wages for all. We will not remain silent in the face of injustice. Instead, we will amplify the voices of those most impacted by these policies, working in partnership to ensure that all people—regardless of their immigration status—can live with dignity, security, and the opportunity to thrive.
Our commitment to racial justice remains unwavering. We recognize that the fight for immigration justice is inextricably linked to the fight against racial injustice. We will continue to build relationships that honor the diverse identities within our communities and empower all voices to challenge the systems that perpetuate inequity.
Mano en Mano remains dedicated to creating a future where all people can live and work in a world that values their humanity. We will keep working to oppose and disrupt the systems of oppression that harm so many and will stand alongside immigrants and people of color in the struggle for collective liberation.
Mano en Mano is here to support all people in Maine particularly Washington County. We will continue to work alongside immigrant and migrant farmworker communities to ensure that their voices are heard, their rights are protected, and their contributions are celebrated. Together, we are stronger. Together, we will create a future where all people are valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.
