Welcoming New Staff to Mano en Mano

As Mano en Mano grows and changes, we wanted to take some time to get to know a few of the new members of our team.  From Portland, to Milbridge these faces will be working to support immigrants and farmworkers thrive in Maine. Get to know them below!

Role: Migrant Education Regional Coordinator (Southern Maine)

In your own words, what is your role and responsibilities at Mano en Mano?

Outreach and enrolling families for the migrant education program

What are you most excited about regarding your new role?

Getting to meet and develop meaningful relationships with families and their children

What is something you are excited to bring to your role/ the team at Mano en Mano?

My optimism and positivity

If you could only eat one kind of food for the rest of your life, what would you pick and why?

Chinese food! It’s my favorite!

What is your favorite color? (Try and be as specific as possible)

What is your favorite thing to do in the summer?

Eating at all the seasonal food posts and swimming

Name Rodrigo Zamora


Role:  Summer office assistant


In your own words, what is your role and responsibilities at Mano en Mano?

Greet the community members that come into the office and help them get in contact with who they need. I also support with printing, faxing, and scanning documents.

What are you most excited about regarding your new role?

Getting to help different community members each day.

What is something you are excited to bring to your role/ the team at Mano en Mano?

Being a community member myself, I think this will allow me to give better support. 

If you could only eat one kind of food for the rest of your life, what would you pick and why?

Tacos!!! There just so delicious. I believe I would not have hard time eating them repeatedly

What is your favorite color? (Try and be as specific as possible)

Don't really have favorite color but I really like cherry red

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

Watch TV, spend time with family and listen to music.

Name:  James Mendoza


Role: Migrant Education Regional Coordinator (Eastern Washington County)


In your own words, what is your role and responsibilities at Mano en Mano?

My role as Regional Coordinator for Eastern Washington county is to establish long lasting relationships with Migrant Working Families to be able to assist them with educational and family needs and goals as they migrate to different areas doing seasonal or temporary work.

What are you most excited about regarding your new role?

I am most excited about the public services I will be providing to the families within my community and making new acquaintances and working with other migratory families coming into Washington County that will be doing seasonal and or temporary work. 

What is something you are excited to bring to your role/ the team at Mano en Mano?

I am excited to showcase my working relationship with the local Tribal Governments and families that I have always serviced in Washington County.

If you could only eat one kind of food for the rest of your life, what would you pick and why?

Latin American food, I would choose this type of food because I grew up eating this kind of food. It never gets old and it's always sooo flavorful!

What is your favorite color? (Try and be as specific as possible)

Granite Gray

Do you have any pets?

Yes, a dog!  His name is Cheeto

Role: Milbridge Office Caretaker/Custodian

In your own words, what is your role and responsibilities at Mano en Mano?

Cleaning the offices; except for two. Make sure to clean well and ask for any cleaning supplies if needed. 

What is something you are excited to bring to your role/ the team at Mano en Mano?

The energy to do my work and know the people that I work with.

What is something that you would like to share with the Mano en Mano community?

I like to observe and talk.

If you could only eat one kind of food for the rest of your life, what would you pick and why?

Grilled beef and beans. Beans have lots of protein and nutrients and everyone likes to eat them!

What is your favorite color? (Try and be as specific as possible)

Blue Celeste

What is your favorite thing to do in the summer?

Go to parties, have fun, and eat!
